More than 30,000 commuters wh o use the Tetteh Quarshie-Madina Strecth of the Accra-Aburi road will soon heave a sigh of relief when the reconsruction of the road into a three-lane dual carriageway is completed within 30 months.
President J. A. Kufuor cut the sod at Legon yesterday for work to begin on the project, which is expected to reduce traffic on the road, as well as the travel time used by commuters.
The project is valued at a cost of $43 million and is solely being funded by the government. Messrs Sonitra Limited, the construction firm executing the contract, has given the assurance to work expeditiously to complete the project ahead of schedule.
Plans to extend the 4'.6 kilometre Tetteh Quarshie-Madina road to Pantang have reached an advanced stage.
